Jen Derham Dip. NLC IHS, mFNTP UKICHA
Hey there, I'm Jen! I'm a wife, mum to three amazing daughters, and a passionate advocate for supporting women. Based in East Meath, Ireland, I'm a qualified Postpartum Doula, Massage Therapist and registered Nutrition & Lifestyle Coach.
In my downtime, you'll find me sipping coffee, baking, getting out in nature, doing yoga or getting lost in a good book!

Initially, I pursued training in nutrition with the intention of helping women lose weight. However, as I delved deeper into the field, I became increasingly uncomfortable with prescribing diets, recognizing the potential harm they can inflict. It was then that I sought out further training with Laura Thomas PhD in Non-Diet Approaches to Health, Nutrition Counselling in Practice, and Advanced Counselling Skills. I have also trained in other areas important to women's health such as menstrual cycle health and awareness, mindfulness and mindful eating.

This training proved to be the missing pieces of the puzzle. I realized I possessed the skills and tools to support women in a unique way that shifts the focus from weight loss to actual health.

As I reflected on where I could make the most impact, I knew it had to be during pregnancy and the postpartum period. These were the times when I, too, felt most vulnerable to the pervasive influence of diet culture.

My personal journey into motherhood began in 1999 and was marked by its challenges. Feeling isolated and unsupported during pregnancy and the postpartum period underscored the need for a new narrative — one that prioritizes women's well-being and empowerment. It wasn't until I turned 40 that I embarked on a journey of self-acceptance, body image resilience, and making peace with food and my body. I only wish I had reached this point much sooner, not only for myself but also for my daughters.

Out of this realization, Mindful Wellness was born — a safe haven for all mums seeking support and understanding.

As a doula and coach, I specialize in supporting women through every stage of their reproductive journey. From promoting a positive body image to advocating for non-diet approaches to health, from hands on postpartum support in the home to newborn care, my goal is to create a space where women feel supported, informed, and empowered.

Whether you're planning for pregnancy, navigating the postpartum period, or simply seeking support in rediscovering yourself after having a baby, I'm here to walk alongside you.

Together, we'll explore mindful eating practices, embrace the changes in your body, and establish positive habits for a healthier, happier you.

I'm committed to staying informed and continually learning to provide you with the best possible support. So, if you're ready to embark on this journey together, I can't wait to connect with you!
