Statement of Principles

At Mindful Wellness, we are guided by a set of principles that reflect our commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive, and diverse community. These principles shape our approach to nutrition, coaching, and support, and guide us in creating a space where individuals of all backgrounds feel valued, respected, and supported.

  1. Weight-Inclusive Approach:

    • We believe that health and well-being are not determined by a number on the scale. Our approach is rooted in the principles of Health at Every Size (HAES) and intuitive eating, which emphasize body autonomy, respect, and dignity for all.

  2. Body Positivity and Acceptance:

    • We celebrate diversity and honor the unique beauty of every body. We reject societal norms that promote unrealistic beauty standards and strive to create a culture of body positivity, acceptance, and self-love.

  3. Cultural Sensitivity and Competence:

    • We recognize the importance of cultural sensitivity and competence in providing effective support and guidance. We are committed to understanding and respecting the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of our clients.

  4. Intersectionality and Inclusivity:

    • We acknowledge that individuals experience intersecting identities and face unique challenges based on factors such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, and socioeconomic status. We are committed to creating an inclusive space that values and affirms all identities.

  5. Empowerment and Advocacy:

    • We empower our clients to advocate for their own health and well-being, and to challenge systems of oppression and discrimination that perpetuate inequality. We believe that every individual has the right to access equitable and compassionate care.

  6. Continuous Learning and Growth:

    • We are committed to ongoing education, self-reflection, and growth in order to better serve our diverse community. We actively seek out opportunities to learn from diverse perspectives and experiences, and to incorporate this knowledge into our practice.

  7. Collaboration and Community Building:

    • We believe in the power of collaboration and community building to create positive change. We actively seek partnerships with organizations and individuals who share our values and are dedicated to advancing social justice and equity.

At Mindful Wellness, we are dedicated to upholding these principles in all aspects of our work. We invite you to join us in creating a world where every body is valued, respected, and celebrated.

I am committed to continuous learning and growth, and I acknowledge that as a white, CIS, woman living in a smaller body, I have not experienced discrimination based on my color, weight, age, or sexual orientation. I recognize that my perspective may be limited, and I am open to feedback and learning from the diverse perspectives and experiences of others. If you notice something that I may not have from your perspective, please do not hesitate to reach out and share your insights with me
